Cent percent Power Demand to be met in Madhya Pradesh: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that electricity is as vital as life itself. Just as life is essential for the functioning of the human body, adequate power availability is crucial for the progress and development of any State. He said that agreements worth ₹60,000 crore for generating 4,000 MW of electricity will become the foundation of Madhya Pradesh’s sustainable development. These projects will not only increase the State’s overall power availability but will also make it possible to meet 100% of electricity demand.

The new power plants will be established under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model, generating direct and indirect employment for over 8,000 youth. In the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, Power Supply Agreements for 4,000 MW were signed on Tuesday at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Residence). Additional Chief Secretary Shri Neeraj Mandloi provided details regarding the agreements.

During the event, Power Supply Agreements were exchanged between the Managing Director of MP Power Management Company, Shri Vishesh Garhpale and representatives of Torrent Power Limited (Shri Jigish Mehta), Adani Power Limited (Shri S.B. Khilaya), and Hindustan Thermal Projects Limited (Shri Ratul Puri). These new powerhouses will be established in Anuppur. At the beginning of the programme, representatives of industry groups welcomed Chief Minister Dr. Yadav by presenting floral bouquets.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that, due to industry-friendly policies, robust infrastructure, and a governance system based on good governance, Madhya Pradesh is becoming an increasingly attractive choice for investors and industrial groups from India and abroad. He emphasised that power generation requires effective coordination of land, water, environment, coal, and railway connectivity and Madhya Pradesh is optimally suited for all these parameters. The State has also achieved significant milestones in the renewable energy sector.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further stated that the PM MITRA Park, received by the State under the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will open new dimensions of development and provide abundant employment opportunities. The State Government has decided to observe the year 2026 as the ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’, which will promote entrepreneurship, self-employment and food processing activities. The government is giving special emphasis to employment-oriented industries, and ample possibilities exist for the expansion of industrial group activities in the State.

MP Power Management Company had invited bids through a tariff-based competitive bidding process to procure 3,200 MW of power from new power plants to be established in the State under the DBFOO model. This included a green shoe option for procuring an additional 800 MW of power. Accordingly, Hindustan Thermal Projects Limited was allocated 800 MW, Torrent Power Limited 1,600 MW and Adani Power Limited 800 MW, along with an additional 800 MW capacity under the green shoe option.

Torrent Power has proposed an investment of ₹24,000 crore, Adani Power ₹24,000 crore, and Hindustan Thermal ₹12,000 crore. Power Supply Agreements for all these capacities have been executed with Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) formed by the selected developers. Under these agreements, power supply is expected to commence from 2030.
