Chhattisgarh Tableau Artists Honoured at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu Praises Tribal Art; Artists Overwhelmed

Raipur, January 2026 : On the occasion of Republic Day, the artists who were part of Chhattisgarh’s tableau on Kartavya Path were accorded the honour of meeting the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During the warm and affectionate interaction with the President, the artists appeared emotional and deeply moved.

Praising the Chhattisgarh tableau, President Droupadi Murmu said that it presented an impressive portrayal of the country’s rich tribal traditions and cultural heritage. She appreciated the dedication, hard work, and vibrant performance of the artists and remarked, “Chhattisgarhiya Sable Badiya,” applauding the spirit of the state.

Tribal artists from Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh had given a captivating performance of the traditional Mandar dance along with the Chhattisgarh tableau during the Republic Day parade. Their presentation attracted the attention of spectators present on Kartavya Path as well as audiences across the country and abroad.

Describing the meeting with the President as an unforgettable moment of their lives, the artists said that the honour would inspire them to carry forward their art, culture, and traditions with even greater dedication.

Those who met the President included a 13-member troupe from village Nayanar in Narayanpur district, led by team leader Tej Bahadur Bhuwal. The members were Jenu Ram Salam, Lachchu Ram, Jaitu Ram Salam, Rajim Salam, Dinesh Karanga, Jayanath Salam, Man Singh Karanga, Chandrashekhar Potai, Dhan Shyam Salam, Jagannath Salam, Suresh Salam, and Dilip Gota from Ghodlapara, village Nayanar.

Notably, this traditional art troupe from the Bastar region strongly showcased Chhattisgarh’s distinct identity on the national stage through its folk culture and unique dance style.
