Three-Day POSH Act Master Trainers’ Training Held in Aizawl

Aizawl, January 2026: A three-day Training of Master Trainers on the Prevention of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 was inaugurated on 28th January, 2026 at Lianchhiari Run, I&PR, Aizawl. The programme is jointly organised by SAKSHI–Delhi and the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Mizoram, with the objective of strengthening legal literacy and institutional capacity for effective implementation of the POSH Act.

The training programme was inaugurated by Pi Zoramthangi Chhangte, Director, Women and Child Development, who, in her address, emphasised the importance of creating safe, dignified, and gender-sensitive workplaces across the State. The inaugural session also included welcome remarks by Pi Sailopari, Joint Director, and a keynote address by Pi Flora Laltanpuii, Deputy Director (Women) and State Nodal Officer (POSH Act). A vote of thanks was delivered by Pi Lalrammawii Kawilam, Assistant Director and State Nodal Officer (Samarthya).

A total of 54 nominated officials from all districts of Mizoram are participating in the training. Facilitated by expert resource persons from SAKSHI–Delhi, the programme covers key legislations related to women’s protection, including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Indecent Representation of Women Act, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, followed by an in-depth focus on the POSH Act, 2013. Emphasis is placed on the constitution and functioning of Internal Committees, inquiry procedures, documentation, reporting, and practical application through interactive sessions, case studies, and role-plays.

The training aims to equip participants to function as Master Trainers and contribute to the promotion of safe and respectful workplaces across Mizoram.
