Modern Ghotul Will Connect the New Generation to Their Roots: Chief Minister Sai

Drums Echo at Gadhbengal Ghotul as CM Appreciates Tribal Architecture and Heritage

Balod, Raipur, January 2026 :Due to a natural disaster, financial assistance of ₹4 lakh has been approved for the nearest heirs of the deceased.

During his two-day visit to Narayanpur today, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai reached the Gadhbengal Ghotul, demonstrating his deep commitment to Bastar’s proud traditions and folk culture. Amid the melodious sound of traditional instruments and the warm welcome of local villagers, the Chief Minister was seen fully immersed in the local cultural atmosphere.

CM Sai observed the unique architecture of the Ghotul and met with Bastar’s eminent personalities to encourage them. He said that the Ghotul has historically served as an educational and cultural center for tribal society. This modern Ghotul, located near Chendru Park, will not only connect the younger generation to their roots but also serve as a powerful medium to introduce tourists from across India and the world to tribal lifestyles and social structures. He added that the Gadhbengal Ghotul symbolizes the preservation of Bastar’s proud heritage, and the government is continuously striving to protect its unique culture, traditions, and knowledge.

The Chief Minister inspected the layout and rooms of the Ghotul, including Layos Kurma (rooms for youth), Bidar Kurma (for traditional attire, ancient musical instruments, and cultural artifacts), and other facilities. At the villagers’ request, CM Sai also tasted traditional Bastar cuisine in the Saga Kurma, honoring the local food culture. The dishes served included Gato-Bhat, Kodo-Bhat, Urad Dal, Hiruwa Dal, Jeera Bhaji, Kanki Pej, Bhaji Ghirol Phool, Chati Bhaji, Kanda Bhaji, Munga Bhaji, Imli Amat, Madiya Pej, Tomato Chutney, Chila Roti, Ragi Kurma, Ragi Cake, Ragi Ladoo, and Ragi Jalebi.

Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation Chairman Roopsai Salam, District Panchayat Chairman Narayan Markam, Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi, folk artist Butlu Ram, and senior representatives including Sandhya Pawar joined CM Sai in tasting the traditional cuisine.

Warm Meetings with Bastar Luminaries

The Chief Minister’s visit was not just formal but a heartfelt interaction. He met and honored regional luminaries including Vaidyaraj Padma Shri Hemchand Manjhi, Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi, and renowned folk artist Butlu Ram. He also met the family members of Tiger Boy Chendru, showing respect and encouragement.

Eco-Friendly Ghotul

Constructed under the guidance of the Forest Department and Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi, the Ghotul is completely eco-friendly, made from wood, clay, and bamboo. CM Sai praised the intricate carvings on the Ghotul’s pillars, skillfully crafted by Pandiram Mandavi himself, highlighting the integration of art, cultural connection, and heritage conservation.
