Review Meeting on Flagstaff and Banner Design for Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027

Nashik, Jan 2026: In preparation for the upcoming Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, a review and planning meeting on the design and installation of flagstaffs and ceremonial banners was recently held at the Smart City Mission office in Nashik.

The meeting was chaired by Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority. Detailed discussions were held on the planning, architectural design, selection of materials, height specifications, religious and cultural symbolism, and execution schedule for the flagstaffs and banners to be erected in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar during the Kumbh Mela.

It was emphasised that flagstaffs are not merely physical structures but symbols of faith, cultural heritage, and social unity. Therefore, their design and installation must be carried out with utmost sensitivity and responsibility. Officials were instructed to ensure uniformity in design at both Nashik and Trimbakeshwar through close coordination among all concerned departments.

The Public Works Department made a detailed presentation on the proposed planning and designs. The flagstaffs will be erected with strong and durable foundations, ensuring structural safety and longevity. Symbolic carvings associated with the mythological significance of the Kumbh Mela, particularly references to the Samudra Manthan, will be incorporated into the flagstaff designs.

It was decided that the flagstaffs would be 51 feet and 31 feet in height, with foundation radii of 1 foot and 8 inches respectively. The base of the flagstaffs will be kept simple, while decorative and symbolic elements will be featured on the pillars themselves.

Priest associations from Nashik and Trimbakeshwar presented spiritual and religious design elements for the flagstaffs. These elements will be integrated into the architectural plans. The Public Works Department was directed to hold further discussions with both priest associations and submit the final designs. It was also unanimously decided that the design of the banners would be undertaken by the respective priest associations.

Concluding the meeting, all departments were instructed to carry out their responsibilities in a timely and coordinated manner, keeping in mind religious sanctity, cultural significance, and long-term usability.

The meeting was attended by Nashik Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, City Engineer Sanjay Agrawal, Executive Engineer Rahul K. Patil of the Public Works Department, Executive Engineer Snehal Pagare of the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, Deputy Engineer Avinash D. Devre, Assistant Engineer Amol Arun Korde, Deputy Engineer Sameer Rakate of Nashik Municipal Corporation, Deputy Engineer A. B.
