UP State Bridge Corporation Limited reports significant progress in bridge connectivity from 2017 to 2024

Lucknow : In a bid to ensure comprehensive infrastructural development across Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has placed connectivity at the forefront throughout its tenure. By focusing on the construction and widening of expressways, highways, and roads at the district, block, and panchayat levels, the government has worked to strengthen the state’s transport network. In addition, substantial progress has been made in the construction of bridges, further bolstering connectivity across the region.

According to the data from Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited, a total of 395 bridges have been constructed between 2017 and 2024. Of these, from 2018 to 2024, the construction of 270 river bridges, 115 rail overbridges, and 10 flyovers has been completed. Furthermore, in the year 2024-25, the construction of a total of 259 bridges is underway, with the state government’s focus on completing 97 of them within this financial year.

It is noteworthy that a comprehensive action plan was developed to ensure bridge connectivity in the state, and various projects are being implemented accordingly. CM Yogi himself regularly monitors the progress reports of all these projects.

According to the data, a total of 54 bridges were completed in the year 2017-18, including 38 river bridges, 15 rail overbridges (ROBs), and 1 flyover. In 2018-19, a total of 48 bridges were completed, including 26 river bridges, 20 ROBs, and 2 flyovers. In 2019-20, 48 bridges were completed, including 38 river bridges, 9 ROBs, and 1 flyover. In 2020-21, 46 bridges were completed, including 26 river bridges, 17 ROBs, and 3 flyovers.

Similarly, in 2021-22, 72 bridges were completed, including 55 river bridges, 15 ROBs, and 2 flyovers. In 2022-23, 72 bridges were completed, including 55 river bridges, 16 ROBs, and 1 flyover. In 2023-24, a total of 55 bridges were completed, including 32 river bridges and 23 ROBs. Thus, during the Yogi government’s tenure so far, a total of 395 bridges have been completed, including 270 river bridges, 115 ROBs, and 10 flyovers.

Emphasizing bridge connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has set a target of 259 construction projects for the year 2024-25, with 97 of them to be completed within this financial year. Currently, work on 4 bridge projects has been completed, while the construction process for 93 projects is progressing rapidly. Among these, 58 bridge construction projects have reached 75 to 99 per cent completion, 18 projects have reached 51 to 75 per cent completion, 15 projects are 26 to 50 per cent complete, and 2 projects have achieved up to 25 per cent completion.

In the year 2024-25, out of the 126 projects, 51 are river bridges, 116 are rail overbridges, and 17 are flyovers. Of these, 51 river bridges, 53 rail overbridges, and 3 flyovers are expected to be completed within the year 2024-25.
