Union Budget: Maharashtra to Receive Nearly ₹1 Lakh Crore! A Strong Step Towards Developed India – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, Feb 2026 : Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman marks a strong step toward a developed India. Maharashtra’s share from central taxes is expected to be ₹98,306 crore. Additionally, a preliminary assessment of the budget shows ₹12,355 crore allocated for various projects in the state. In total, Maharashtra is set to receive nearly ₹1 lakh crore, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking to the media about the Union Budget, CM Fadnavis highlighted that the budget includes robust measures for planned urbanization, promotion of industry and entrepreneurship, and investment and employment generation. The government plans an investment of ₹12 lakh crore in infrastructure, compared to just ₹1 lakh crore previously. Urbanization planning has been integrated considering development for cities with populations over 5 lakh, which will provide direction, momentum, and funding to various sectors, benefiting Maharashtra significantly.

The budget also makes substantial provisions for agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and irrigation. Following the success of the Lakshpati Didi scheme, plans for women-centric malls and industrial opportunities are highly significant. Hostels for girls pursuing higher education are planned in every district, and establishing emergency medical services in district hospitals will be a valuable step in healthcare. High-speed corridors like Mumbai–Pune and Pune–Hyderabad are expected to boost GDP, with the Pune–Hyderabad corridor benefiting Marathwada and Western Maharashtra. Growth hubs will receive ₹5,000 crore over five years, benefiting the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune, and Nagpur metropolitan growth hubs, CM Fadnavis added.

  • Maharashtra Agribusiness Project: ₹167.28 crore
  • Economic Cluster for Inclusive Development: ₹283.77 crore
  • Maharashtra Tertiary Care & Medical Education Development: ₹385.78 crore
  • Solar Energy for Irrigation Schemes: ₹207.10 crore
  • Agriculture & Rural Transformation Project: ₹646.24 crore
  • Skills & Applied Knowledge for Human Development: ₹313.65 crore
  • Institutional Capacity Building in Districts: ₹240.90 crore
  • Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Corridor: ₹6,103 crore
  • Mumbai Metro: ₹1,702 crore
  • MUTP 3: ₹462 crore
  • Green Mobility in MMR: ₹155.32 crore
  • ITS on Samruddhi Mahamarg: ₹680.79 crore
  • Pune Metro: ₹517.74 crore
