Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma Meets Outstanding Para-Athletes

Raipur, February 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma today held a courtesy meeting with para-athletes from Kabirdham district who delivered an outstanding performance at the 16th Chhattisgarh State-Level Para Athletics Championship. The athletes shared details of their achievements and experiences from the competition.

It is noteworthy that 13 para-athletes from Kabirdham district won a total of 32 medals at the state-level event, securing the Overall Champion title for the district. This historic achievement has filled the entire district with pride and enthusiasm.

Congratulating the athletes, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that this success is not merely about the number of medals, but a victory of struggle, self-confidence, and unwavering determination. He remarked that the differently-abled athletes of Kabirdham have proved that physical challenges cannot become obstacles to success if one has strong resolve and dedication towards one’s goals. He added that the 13 athletes brought great honor to the district by winning 32 medals across various events and maintained dominance throughout the competition through discipline, hard work, commitment, and true sportsmanship.

Shri Sharma further stated that the government led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai is committed to promoting sports and providing athletes with better training, facilities, and opportunities. Mini stadiums are being constructed in athletes’ own regions to support their development.

On this occasion, former District Panchayat President Shri Videshiram Dhurve, Shri Santosh Patel, Janpad Vice President Kawardha Shri Ganesh Tiwari, Shri Nand Shrivas (Bodla), Shri Narendra Manikpuri, Shri Maniram Sahu, Shri Amar Kurre, Shri Praveen Sharma, Shri Jasbir Saluja, Shri Shailendra Upadhyay, other public representatives, and local citizens were present.

Kabirdham Athletes Win 32 Medals

Athletes from Kabirdham district delivered an exceptional performance at the 16th Chhattisgarh State-Level Para Athletics Championship, winning numerous medals.

  • Chhoti Mehra won gold medals in discus throw and shot put.
  • Anil Kumar secured gold in shot put and javelin throw.
  • Khileshwar Patel won gold in the 400m race, 100m race, and long jump.
  • Sukhnandan Nishad claimed gold in the 200m race, 100m race, and long jump.
  • Dev Singh Ahire won silver in javelin throw and shot put.
  • Arun Verma won gold in javelin throw, long jump, and shot put, and silver in the 100m and 200m races.
  • Gandhi Kurre secured gold in javelin throw and long jump, and silver in the 100m race and shot put.
  • Ameen Khan won gold in long jump and shot put, and silver in discus throw.
  • Shivkinkar Netam won gold in discus throw, silver in shot put, and bronze in javelin throw.
  • Thanu won silver in discus throw.
  • Ramlochan Verma secured silver in javelin throw.
  • Keshav won gold in both discus throw and shot put.
  • Sarju Kosle won gold in shot put and silver in discus throw and javelin throw.

These achievements have brought statewide recognition to Kabirdham district and have become a major source of inspiration for future athletes.
