Rakhi Kalash Offering Ceremony Held in the Presence of Chief Minister and Women and Child Welfare Minister
Gandhinagar : Gujarat’s Anganwadi women have taken a commendable step by sending over 1 lakh rakhis as a protective shield to our soldiers guarding the nation’s borders on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. These dedicated soldiers, who celebrate every festival and occasion far from their homes and families, remain ever vigilant at the borders. To ensure they too can participate in the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan, and to remind them of the unwavering bond with mothers and sisters, Gujarat has launched the noble initiative ‘Ek Rakhi Desh Ke Jawano Ke Naam.’ As part of this effort, 53,000 Anganwadi women from the state have organized the delivery of over 1 lakh 3 thousand rakhis to the brave soldiers stationed at the nation’s borders.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Minister for Women and Child Welfare Smt. Bhanuben Babaria handed over the Raksha Sutra to Lieutenant Colonel Shri Rakesh Kumar and Sub Major General Shri Santosh Kamate of the 16 Maratha Light Infantry, entrusting them with the responsibility of delivering these sacred threads to the soldiers stationed at the borders. These rakhis, imbued with heartfelt wishes and prayers, are meant to convey the love and support of Gujarat’s sisters to the brave soldiers who endure extreme conditions—be it heat, cold, or rain—while guarding the nation’s borders and remaining far from their families. Also present at the ceremony were Women and Child Development Secretary and Commissioner Shri Rakesh Shankar, I.C.D.S. Commissioner Shri Ranjit Kumar Sinh, Deputy Secretary Smt. Kumudben Yagnik, along with Anganwadi workers and supervisors.
