CM Orders Crackdown on Gangsters, Drug Syndicates; Special Drive Announced
Jaipur, February 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma on Tuesday directed authorities to take the strictest possible legal action against gangs involved in drug trafficking and to launch special campaigns to make the state drug-free. He also issued firm instructions to impose an effective clampdown on gangsters and hardcore criminals through stringent enforcement.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the Home Department at the Chief Minister’s residence, Shri Sharma said that to eradicate the drug menace, the entire supply chain must be identified and closely monitored, with heightened vigilance along border areas as well.
Dismantle networks big and small:
The Chief Minister instructed officials to act under a focused action plan to break organised drug syndicates, dismantling both small and large networks. He stressed coordinated efforts among the police, Drugs Controller, Health Department and other agencies, and directed strong legal follow-up against those arrested in drug-related cases.
Awareness on ill effects of drugs:
Calling drugs the root of crime with long-term adverse impacts on families and society, Shri Sharma urged expansion of awareness programmes in schools and colleges. He also asked the police to collaborate with social organisations to raise public awareness about the POCSO Act and other laws.
Campaign against cybercrime:
Emphasising priority action against cybercrime, the Chief Minister ordered special drives in affected areas targeting cyber gangs, to continue until such crimes are eliminated at the root.
Progress review every 10 days:
Noting a significant decline in crime over the past two years due to government efforts, Shri Sharma directed progress monitoring every 10 days, with accountability fixed for any lapses.
Adopt modern policing:
Highlighting the rise of high-tech crimes, he called for the adoption of modern technologies and practices in policing to counter criminals effectively.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of Police Shri Rajiv Kumar Sharma, senior police officers, and district-level officials who joined via video conference.
