Bastar Tourism Gets a New Direction: Grand Resort to Come Up Near Mendri Ghumar Waterfall
Raipur, February 2026 : There is good news for tourists visiting Bastar to experience its natural beauty and waterfalls. A grand resort is set to take shape near the picturesque Mendri Ghumar Waterfall, which is renowned for its scenic charm and often compared to the famous Chitrakote Falls. Acting on the initiative of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, the Lohandiguda administration has accelerated efforts to implement the project. The process of transferring land belonging to the Jail Department in Mendri village to the Tourism Department has already begun.
According to an official notice issued by the Lohandiguda Tehsildar Court, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board had submitted an application seeking land allotment near the Mendri Ghumar Waterfall for developing tourist facilities and constructing a resort. Taking cognisance of the proposal, the administration has prepared a plan to transfer the government land to the Tourism Department. For the resort project, a total of 20.28 hectares of land in Mendri village, falling under Khasra numbers 50, 77, 179 and 184, has been identified. This is expected to enable significant expansion of tourism infrastructure in the region.
To ensure transparency in the land transfer process, the administration has issued a public notice inviting objections. The notice states that if any individual, institution or department has an objection or claim regarding the transfer of this land to the Tourism Department, they may submit a written objection in person or through a legal representative at the Lohandiguda Tehsildar Court within 15 days from the date of publication.
The matter has been scheduled for hearing on February 7, 2026. The administration has clarified that objections received after the stipulated period will not be considered. In the absence of any objections within the given timeframe, it will be assumed that there are no claims against the land transfer, paving the way for the commencement of resort construction and further boosting tourism in Bastar.
