Beautification Works to Include Lighting, Fountains and Murals
Jaipur, May 2026 : Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Wednesday inspected the beautification and development works being carried out from the Ashok Udyan entrance gate to Ambedkar Circle in Ajmer and issued several necessary directions to officials.
He said that the entry route to Ajmer creates the first impression for pilgrims, tourists and visitors arriving from across the state and country. Therefore, the development of these roads should reflect the city’s cultural, historical and educational identity.
He directed officials to undertake phased heritage-themed beautification work on both sides of the road from the Ashok Udyan entrance gate to the bus stand leading into Ajmer city. The project will include attractive decorative and heritage lighting at fixed intervals, fountains, plantation drives, green belts and well-maintained gardens.
Devnani said that roadside walls and side walls should be painted in terracotta shades and decorated with artwork and murals depicting Ajmer’s historical and cultural heritage.
The Assembly Speaker further instructed that artistic paintings showcasing Ajmer’s great personalities, Chauhan rulers, historical lakes and the city’s glorious heritage should be developed on walls along both sides of the route. He said this would help effectively communicate the city’s historic identity to the younger generation and visitors alike.
He also directed that Ajmer’s unique identity as a renowned educational hub should be highlighted through various artistic mediums.
During the inspection, Devnani instructed officials to remove encroachments and bushes around the Ashok Udyan entrance gate and ensure that the area is maintained in a clean and organised manner. He also asked officials to develop and beautify attractive traffic circles at major intersections.
He directed the construction of a circle at the MDS University Pushkar intersection and instructed that a statue of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan be installed there, while the entire area should be developed in a heritage style.
The Speaker further said that the width of the city’s main entry road should remain uniform and well-organised on both sides. Necessary anti-encroachment measures should be taken wherever required.
He also directed officials to maintain equal road width on both sides in front of the RPSC office, develop and beautify a traffic circle at the RPSC intersection, and install a symbolic landmark there.
Taking note of the waterlogging issue near the Royal Enfield showroom on Jaipur Road, Devnani instructed officials to create an effective drainage system in the area. He said a well-planned drainage network should be developed on both sides of the road to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season and ensure smooth traffic movement.
The Assembly Speaker said Ajmer’s entry route should be developed by blending modern amenities with a heritage-style appearance. This, he said, would provide a new identity to the city’s historical dignity, cultural heritage and clean, beautiful image.
