Saitual, February 2026:National Girl Child Day was celebrated today at the Chawnpui YMA Hall in Saitual. The programme was attended by Ms. F. Zodingpuii, DIPRO, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest paid tribute to National Girl Child Day and stated that girls have the potential to become future leaders and nation-builders. She observed that compared to the past, the status of women has improved significantly, but emphasized that violence and discrimination against women and children still persist, making it essential to strengthen efforts to protect them.
She highlighted that Mizo women have achieved remarkable success in various fields and encouraged young girls to recognize their talents, nurture them, and work hard to become self-reliant. During the programme, the DIPRO also educated children about “good touch” and “bad touch” to help them stay safe. Teachers were urged to listen carefully to children, take their concerns seriously, and ensure that no form of abuse goes unnoticed.
