DMK South Zone Youth Wing Conference Reaffirms Stand on Language, Social Justice and Education
Chennai, Feb 2026 : The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Saturday organised its South Zone Youth Wing Conference in Virudhunagar district, drawing enthusiastic participation from party cadres and youth volunteers representing several districts of southern Tamil Nadu. The event formed a key part of the party’s broader mobilisation strategy ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin, along with Deputy Chief Minister and Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin, addressed the gathering, reiterating the party’s ideological commitments and outlining its political stance on language rights, social justice, and education policy.
In his address, Chief Minister Stalin strongly reaffirmed the DMK’s long-standing resolve to protect the Tamil language and resist what he described as repeated attempts to impose Hindi through central policies. He recalled that Tamil had faced numerous challenges over the decades and credited the Dravidian movement for safeguarding linguistic identity through sustained struggles.
“Whenever our mother tongue Tamil was threatened, we stood firm and fought to protect it,” Stalin said. He cautioned that even today, under the pretext of the three-language policy, efforts were being made to push Hindi, warning that undermining language was a way to erase cultural identity. “We will never allow such attempts to succeed,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister also criticised centralised education policies, alleging that they weaken the principles of social justice. Referring specifically to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Stalin said such examinations disproportionately affect students from rural areas and economically weaker sections. He argued that these policies risk reviving historical inequalities in access to education and employment.
“There was a time when education and jobs were denied to large sections of society. Reservation and social justice policies opened those doors. Through exams like NEET, there is an attempt to close them again,” he said, adding that the DMK would continue to oppose measures that disadvantage Tamil Nadu’s students.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, addressing the youth wing members, called upon them to play a proactive role in strengthening the party at the grassroots. He urged young cadres to take the DMK’s message of social justice, state autonomy, and linguistic pride to every village and household.
Party leaders noted that the youth wing would play a decisive role in carrying forward Dravidian ideology and countering policies perceived as harmful to the state’s interests. The conference concluded with resolutions reaffirming the DMK’s commitment to federalism, social equity, and the protection of Tamil language and culture.
