Malnutrition-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign Launched
Raipur, February 2026 : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana is a historic initiative that embodies the spirit of social harmony, Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person), and sensitive governance in Chhattisgarh. He said that there was a time when a daughter’s marriage was a major concern for poor families, but this scheme has transformed that concern into dignity and assurance. The Chief Minister was addressing the state-level mass marriage ceremony held at the Science College Ground in the state capital, Raipur.

In the presence of Chief Minister Sai, a total of 6,412 couples from Raipur and across the state entered into married life in accordance with various religious traditions and customs. At the Science College Ground, the Chief Minister personally blessed 1,316 newlywed couples, while couples from other districts joined the programme through virtual mode. Under the scheme, each newly married couple was provided financial assistance of ₹35,000. Notably, this unprecedented event has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records.
The Chief Minister said that the event was not merely a marriage ceremony, but a celebration of interfaith harmony and social unity. Couples from Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist communities as well as from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group Baiga were married according to their respective customs, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s cultural diversity and social harmony.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai formally launched the Malnutrition-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign. He said that as a pilot project, the campaign has been initiated in eight districts of the Surguja and Bastar divisions. Emphasising the need for collective participation, he said that along with the government, active involvement of society is essential to build a healthy and well-nourished Chhattisgarh. After its success, the campaign will be expanded across the entire state.
Chief Minister Sai said that with the blessings of the people, Chhattisgarh is moving rapidly on the path of development. He noted that within just two years, the government has fulfilled most of the promises under “Modi’s Guarantee.” Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 7 million women are being provided monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000. He also mentioned welfare initiatives such as an increase in the standard bag price for tendu leaf collectors, the revival of the Charan Paduka Yojana, the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana, and financial assistance for landless labourers.
Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana was initiated under the leadership of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and is being further strengthened by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. She added that the government is continuously working to ensure that welfare schemes reach the last person and that public participation is crucial to achieving the goal of a malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh.
Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb described the occasion as historic, stating that the marriage of thousands of couples on a single day reflects the Chief Minister’s sensitivity and inclusive vision.
The programme was attended by MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Anuj Sharma, Motilal Sahu and Sampat Agrawal; Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Seed Corporation Chandras Chandraakar; Chairperson of the Child Protection Commission Dr. Varnika Sharma; Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Shammi Abidi; Director Dr. Renuka Srivastava; along with several public representatives, officers and staff.
