District Planning Committee meets in an emotional atmosphere; 2026–27 draft plan presented
Beed, Feb 2026 : The late Ajit Pawar had envisioned Beed developing on the lines of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Baramati. Calling upon all officers and agencies to work with dedication to fulfil that vision, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Beed district Sunetra Ajit Pawar made an emotional appeal during the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting held on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed expenditure for the current financial year and presented the draft district plan for 2026–27. For the ongoing year, an outlay of ₹575 crore has been received, of which works worth ₹565.41 crore have been granted administrative approval.
The meeting was conducted via video conferencing. Environment Minister Pankaja Munde, MLAs Suresh Dhas and Namita Mundada participated from Mumbai, while MP Bajrang Sonawane and MLAs Dhananjay Munde, Prakash Solanke and Sandeep Kshirsagar were among those present. Member-Secretary of the committee and District Collector Vivek Johnson made the presentation from Mumbai.
At the outset, a short film highlighting the work and contributions of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was screened. MLA and former minister Dhananjay Munde from the Parli constituency moved a condolence resolution. Legislators present expressed their sentiments and paid tribute, followed by two minutes of silence in his memory.
District Superintendent of Police Navneet Kawat and Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Jitin Rehman attended the meeting via video link. The emotionally charged session was also attended at the Beed venue by Resident Deputy Collector Shivkumar Swami, Additional Zilla Parishad CEO Vilas Jadhav, District Planning Officer Dr Sudhakar Chinchane, and heads of all departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar said Ajit Pawar had a special emotional bond with Beed district and was determined to transform it. She urged officials to work collectively and honestly to realise his dream of comprehensive development. Ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society, she said, would be the true tribute to him.
Presenting the expenditure review, District Collector Vivek Johnson said that for 2025–26, the approved outlay for the General Category stands at ₹575 crore. Of this, administrative approval has been granted to works worth ₹565.41 crore, while expenditure of ₹199.64 crore has been incurred so far—amounting to 34.72 per cent of the total allocation.
Under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan, the approved outlay is ₹129 crore, with administrative approval granted to works worth ₹81.57 crore, reflecting an approval level of 52.20 per cent.
Under the OTSP component of the District Annual Plan, funds of ₹2.39 crore have been received. Administrative approval has been granted to works worth ₹2.19 crore, of which ₹61 lakh has been spent so far, translating to an expenditure of 25.69 per cent.
The draft plan for 2026–27 was also presented at the meeting. The Planning Department has fixed a maximum financial ceiling of ₹481.62 crore for the district for the coming year, based on which the plan has been prepared and presented. The district will now submit the plan at the state-level meeting. Additionally, the District Planning Committee has proposed an extra demand of ₹370 crore to meet development requirements.
Reiterating her commitment, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar said the administration must work with unity and sincerity to bring about transformative change in Beed, in keeping with the vision and resolve of the late Ajit Pawar.
