Retired IAS Dr. Ram Manohar Mishra to Receive Sahitya Shri Award
Lucknow, Feb 2026 :Retired IAS officer Dr. Ram Manohar Mishra will be conferred with the prestigious Parvati Mall Janpad Deoria Sahitya Shri Award for the year 2025. The formal announcement was made on Sunday by BMN Seva Sansthan Program Head Amit Kumar, who stated that the honor recognizes Dr. Mishra’s significant contributions to literature, administration, and social service. The award ceremony will be held on February 22 at the Hindi Sansthan.
A native of Deoria district, Dr. Mishra has authored notable poetry collections titled Pehchaan and Laadli. His poetry book Pehchaan has earlier been honored with the Mahadevi Verma Award by the State Employees Literary Institute. After completing his postgraduate studies in Ancient History, Archaeology, and Culture from Gorakhpur University, he earned a PhD on the topic “Crafts and Artisans in Ancient India: A Socio-Economic Study from the 2nd Century BC to 750 AD.”
During his administrative career, Dr. Mishra served in several key positions, including as District Magistrate of Amethi. Alongside his administrative responsibilities, he remained actively engaged in literary creation. Many of his short stories and micro-fiction pieces have been published in reputed magazines and journals, while his poems have appeared in the joint anthology Kavyavatika ke Pandrah Pushp.
In addition, for his outstanding work in the field of welfare of persons with disabilities, he was honored with a state-level award in 2005 by the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh, T. B. Rajeshwar.
