The students highlighted that during the Chief Minister’s recent foreign visit, his interaction with beneficiaries of the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme proved to be a highly motivating initiative. They noted that the Chief Minister’s long-term vision aims to ensure that by 2050, a large number of students from Jharkhand benefit from this scholarship scheme to pursue higher education and advanced research abroad, thereby enhancing the state’s global reputation.
The scholars also made a special appeal to encourage tribal children of Jharkhand to move forward in the fields of education, doctoral studies, and research. They emphasized that focused support and motivation for students from indigenous communities would help realize the dreams of social empowerment through education and knowledge.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said it is a matter of immense pride that after the legacy of Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda, tribal students from the state are today studying at world-class institutions such as Oxford University. Currently, 25 students every year are availing benefits under the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
The Chief Minister further stated that the state government is making continuous efforts to increase the number of beneficiaries under this scheme in the coming years. By expanding access, the government aims to ensure that more talented youths from Jharkhand gain exposure to global education and research ecosystems, and later contribute their knowledge and experience to the state’s development.
