Global Leaders Arrive for AI Impact Summit 2026

New Delhi, Feb 2026 : Global Leaders Arrive for AI Impact Summit 2026World leaders from Europe and the Indian Ocean region arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to take part in the AI Impact Summit 2026, a high-profile global gathering that highlights the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and its role in shaping inclusive development. Among the first dignitaries to arrive were Spanish President Pedro Sánchez, Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, and Seychelles Vice President Sebastien Pillay.

The visiting leaders were warmly received by Indian ministers, reflecting India’s emphasis on strengthening international cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and cultural exchange. Their participation underscores the growing global interest in collaborating with India on emerging technologies and responsible AI governance.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) extended a special welcome to the Spanish President, noting the broader significance of his visit. In a message shared on X, the MEA said President Sánchez was received by Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Singh. The ministry added that the visit would further energise the ongoing celebrations of the India–Spain Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and AI, highlighting the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation beyond traditional diplomatic ties.

A similarly warm reception was accorded to the Mauritian Prime Minister, who was welcomed by Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary. Prime Minister Ramgoolam was accompanied by his wife, Veena Ramgoolam. Describing Mauritius as a close friend and maritime neighbour, the MEA emphasised that digital cooperation remains a key pillar of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries, supported by deep-rooted historical and people-to-people ties.

The Vice President of Seychelles, Sebastien Pillay, was also received by Raj Bhushan Choudhary upon his arrival in the national capital. The MEA described Seychelles as a longstanding maritime partner and noted that its participation in the Summit offers an opportunity to harness artificial intelligence for the benefit of people in both countries, while further strengthening bilateral cooperation in technology and maritime domains.

The five-day AI Impact Summit 2026 has drawn participation from more than 110 countries and around 30 international organisations. The event is expected to host nearly 20 Heads of State or Government and about 45 ministers, making it one of the most significant global forums on artificial intelligence to date. The scale of participation reflects the growing urgency among nations to collectively address the opportunities and challenges posed by AI.

The Summit aims to align global AI initiatives with India’s national vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” — welfare for all and happiness for all — while reinforcing the broader international principle of AI for Humanity. Discussions are expected to focus on ethical frameworks, economic impact, social inclusion, and the responsible deployment of AI technologies.

India-AI Impact Summit 2026 is the fourth edition of the series, following earlier editions held in the United Kingdom at Bletchley Park in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025. Over the years, the Summit has evolved into a key platform for dialogue on AI governance, innovation, and international collaboration.

Several more dignitaries are expected to arrive later in the day, as New Delhi continues to host global leaders committed to shaping a future where artificial intelligence drives inclusive, ethical, and sustainable development worldwide.
