Clear Infrastructure Roadmap for ‘Developed Maharashtra’

Mumbai, February 2026 : At the Global Economic Cooperation Conference organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, heads of key infrastructure and industrial bodies from Maharashtra presented a clear and focused roadmap to accelerate industrial development, boost investment, and achieve the goal of a ‘Developed Maharashtra’.

A special panel discussion was held during the conference in Mumbai, featuring senior officials including Anilkumar Gaikwad, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation; Vijay Singhal, Managing Director of the City and Industrial Development Corporation; Dr. Kunal Khemnar, Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation; and Dr. Shankar Deshpande, Chief Investment and Planning Officer of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The panel shared insights into ongoing and upcoming development projects across the state.

Key enablers for industrial growth discussed at the session included modern infrastructure, fast and integrated connectivity, ease of doing business through a single-window system, and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at attracting international investment. The panel also held in-depth discussions on opportunities in artificial intelligence and data centers, industrial cluster development, logistics efficiency, and skill development.

Highlighting major ongoing projects, the speakers noted that initiatives such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Atal Setu, and the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg are significantly improving connectivity and driving fresh investments. Industrial zones being developed through MMRDA, CIDCO, MIDC, and MSRDC are also accelerating job creation and economic growth in the state.

Through the ideas presented at the conference, emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination among various state government departments to give Maharashtra’s industries global recognition. With strong infrastructure, advanced technology, sustainable development practices, and investment-friendly policies, the speakers expressed confidence that Maharashtra will move forward at a faster pace toward innovation, industrial leadership, and economic progress.
