Eight Climate-Friendly Innovations Win Mumbai Climate Week Innovation Challenge 2026
Mumbai, February 2026 : To accelerate solutions to climate change, the winners of the Mumbai Climate Week (MCW) Innovation Challenge 2026 were announced on the concluding day of Mumbai Climate Week. Eight high-impact climate innovators from India and the Global South (developing countries) were honoured, including two solutions developed by youth innovators.
The awards were presented during the valedictory session by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat. Environment and Climate Change Minister Pankaja Munde and Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar, along with other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
This year, more than 350 startups and young change-makers applied for the challenge across key focus areas such as water conservation, energy efficiency, mobility, sustainable materials, and carbon accounting. After a rigorous screening process, 34 finalists advanced to the final round.

The eight selected winners presented scalable, investment-ready solutions aimed at reducing the pace of climate change and strengthening climate resilience in India.

Collaboration and Partnerships
The challenge was organised in collaboration with National Stock Exchange of India as the Innovation Challenge Partner and Social Alpha as the Support Partner. The Climate Collective Foundation participated as the Climate Re-Design Challenge Partner.
A special Youth Green Innovation Challenge was conducted in partnership with YuWaah (UNICEF), focusing on food systems, urban resilience, and energy transition.
Beyond selecting winners, the MCW Innovation Challenge 2026 also provided participants with opportunities for capacity building, mentorship, and direct engagement with potential investors, helping to accelerate the journey from innovation to real-world climate impact.
