New Delhi, 24 February 2026 : The Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for 49 development projects worth approximately ₹264 crore in the Mundka Assembly constituency.

On the occasion, she stated that upon completion, these works would significantly improve roads and traffic facilities in the area. Residents will receive access to clean drinking water, and the sewerage system will also be strengthened. Schools and healthcare services will be enhanced, leading to an improved standard of living for the general public.

The Chief Minister said that these initiatives mark a major step towards providing urban-standard amenities to rural Delhi. She further informed that over the past year, development works worth approximately ₹1,600 crore have been initiated across rural areas.

Member of Parliament from North West Delhi, Shri Yogender Chandolia; Delhi Cabinet Minister Shri Kapil Mishra; Mundka MLA Shri Gajender Singh Drall; Chairman of the Delhi Gramin Vikas Board Shri Rajkumar Chauhan; along with several public representatives and dignitaries, were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister informed that these projects have been approved under the Delhi Gramin Vikas Board, the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF), the MLA Local Area Development Fund (MLALAD), and other heads.

Previous governments had neglected villages, resulting in long-standing issues such as broken roads, dilapidated drains, and a lack of schools, hospitals, and colleges in the capital’s rural areas. However, rural areas of the capital are now firmly integrated into the mainstream of growth. She added that over the past year, the government has embraced the resolve of Antyodaya and undertaken extensive expansion of roads, drinking water supply, sewerage, education, healthcare, and other basic amenities in rural Delhi. A budget allocation of ₹1,000 crore has been made specifically for village development to ensure planned and accelerated progress.
She further said that special focus is being given to road construction in villages, development of major drains, border area development, and the establishment of new schools, hospitals, and dispensaries. Peripheral roads and drainage works across rural regions are also being executed at an estimated cost of ₹500-600 crore. Additionally, through the new Master Plan, farmers will directly benefit, issues related to land consolidation will be addressed, and a proposed growth centre spanning 900 bighas of land will be developed.

The Chief Minister said that once these projects are completed, the Mundka Assembly constituency will witness smoother connectivity, access to clean drinking water, improved sewerage systems, and strengthened education and healthcare facilities, leading to a marked improvement in residents’ quality of life. These initiatives are significant steps towards bringing rural Delhi on par with urban standards.

On the occasion, Delhi’s Development Minister, Shri Kapil Mishra, remarked that under previous governments, the Delhi Gramin Vikas Board had virtually come to a standstill, and even projects worth one or two crore rupees were not approved. Villagers had to struggle for roads, water, and sewer connections, and the doors of the Chief Minister’s Office remained closed. Today, however, the situation has changed. Delhi is moving in step with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat, articulated by Shri Narendra Modi.

He stated that in the very first year under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, a ₹1,000 crore fund has been sanctioned for rural Delhi. In addition, historic development works are being carried out through the Chief Minister’s Development Fund, MLA funds, and funds allocated for unauthorised colonies, bringing visible transformation across the region. He further added that, on the occasion of Holi, free LPG cylinders are being provided as a gift to women under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. He concluded by saying that while earlier there were only allegations and counter-allegations, today new roads are being built, new water pipelines are being laid, and sewer lines are being installed. Today, development work is underway in every part of Delhi.
