Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Assures Full Rehabilitation Support to Surrendered Maoists
Hyderabad, Feb 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting surrendered Maoists, assuring them of security, rehabilitation, and all necessary assistance to help them live with dignity and stability in mainstream society.
The Chief Minister gave this assurance during a meeting with six senior leaders of the banned CPI (Maoist), who had recently laid down arms and rejoined civil life. The interaction took place at the State Secretariat, where Revanth Reddy held a face-to-face discussion with the former underground cadres, listening to their experiences and concerns.
Congratulating them for choosing the democratic path after spending several years in forest areas and armed struggle, the Chief Minister said violence could never offer a lasting solution to social or political problems. He emphasized that people’s aspirations could only be addressed through democratic processes, dialogue, and constitutional means. Revanth Reddy underlined that the government would ensure there were no lapses in providing security, financial assistance, and rehabilitation benefits to those who had reintegrated into society.
According to the Director General of Police, Shivadhar Reddy, the meeting was arranged at the request of the surrendered Maoist leaders. He stated that the Chief Minister’s proactive approach and clear policy direction had played a crucial role in encouraging extremists to abandon violence and return to the mainstream.
The former Maoist cadres expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and the state government for creating a supportive environment that enabled them to give up armed struggle. They said the rehabilitation measures and assurances of safety gave them the confidence to begin a new chapter in their lives as ordinary citizens. During the interaction, they also appealed to the government to further enhance relief and rehabilitation packages, bringing them on par with policies implemented in neighbouring states.
The DGP revealed that over the past two years, as many as 591 Maoists across Telangana had surrendered and reintegrated into society in response to the government’s call. He noted that many of them were now leading normal lives, having taken up livelihoods with the help of state support systems. He added that coordinated efforts by the police department, along with improved and humane rehabilitation policies, had brought about a significant change even among top leaders of the outlawed group.
These policy reforms and sustained outreach, the DGP said, helped build renewed faith in democratic institutions and encouraged senior Maoist functionaries to give up extremism. The surrendered leaders who met the Chief Minister included Thippiri Tirupati alias Devuji, a former Central Committee and Polit Bureau member, and Malla Raji Reddy alias Sangram. Also present were Pothula Kalpana alias Sujatha and Pulluri Prasad Rao alias Chandranna, both former Central Committee members, Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar, former Telangana State Committee secretary, and Nune Narsimha Reddy alias Ganganna, a former State Committee member.
The meeting marked another significant step in Telangana’s efforts to promote peace, reintegration, and inclusive development through democratic means.
