City Gas Project Reflects State’s Strong Resolve for Clean Energy, Environmental Protection and Modern Infrastructure: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, February 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday said that the City Gas Infrastructure Project represents Chhattisgarh’s strong commitment to clean energy, environmental conservation, and modern infrastructure. He was speaking while inaugurating the City Gas Infrastructure Project at a private hotel in the state capital Raipur.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off CNG-enabled vehicles and interacted with Mrs. Poonam Chaubey, the first piped natural gas (PNG) consumer of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, to learn about the benefits of using pipeline gas for domestic purposes.

The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year, marking 25 years since its formation, and during this period the state has achieved significant milestones in development. The City Gas Infrastructure Project, he said, is a new achievement in this journey. “This initiative is not merely a new facility, but a strong resolve of the state towards clean energy, environmental protection, and the creation of modern infrastructure,” he added.

He explained that, on the lines of metro cities, domestic piped natural gas (DPNG) will now be supplied to homes and commercial establishments through pipelines. This will free household consumers from the hassles of cylinder refilling while also enhancing safety. The availability of affordable and accessible energy, he noted, will give a boost to the industrial sector and strengthen investment prospects in the state.

Congratulating the HCG Group, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the group would soon develop an extensive network of CNG stations in Raipur as well as in Balodabazar and Gariaband districts. He said that the use of CNG in vehicles would help reduce pollution and also bring relief to citizens by lowering fuel expenses.

Referring to the recently presented state budget, the Chief Minister said that important provisions have been made for infrastructure development. The government’s goal, he stated, is to ensure world-class facilities from cities to rural areas so that residents of the state can experience amenities similar to those available in metro cities. Stressing that development and environmental protection must go hand in hand, he said the government is prioritising green energy. He appealed to citizens to adopt clean fuels, actively participate in environmental conservation, and contribute to building a green, developed, and self-reliant Chhattisgarh.

It is noteworthy that the City Gas Infrastructure Project has been launched in Raipur, Balodabazar, and Gariaband districts. Under the project, piped natural gas (PNG) will be supplied to households and commercial establishments, while CNG will be made available for vehicles.

Those present at the programme included HCG Group Managing Director Rahul Chopra, Director Rajiv Mathur, Chairman Deepak Sawant, Rakesh Ranjan, representatives of GAIL India, and members of the industrial community.
