Housewife Turned Millionaire Businesswoman

An ordinary housewife transformed her life and is now known as a millionaire businesswoman. Previously confined to the walls of her home and unconcerned with the outside world, her life took a dramatic turn for the better.

This remarkable story is about Bhavna Shivhare from Chidavad village in Dewas district. Determined to change her fortunes, Bhavna joined the Krishna Self Help Group under the Village Livelihood Mission. Her journey began when she formed a group with ten women from her family and was appointed as the secretary. The collective discipline and spirit she learned from the Rural Livelihood Mission were pivotal.

With the first loan of ₹50,000, Bhavna invested in a restaurant using her household savings. Her brother assisted in running the restaurant. A second loan of ₹20,000 allowed Bhavna to further enhance her restaurant. With a third loan of ₹75,000, she started a ration shop, which significantly improved her financial situation.

Bhavna credits the Livelihood Mission for teaching her the intricacies of the Bank Sakhi Group and providing valuable training. She has benefited from various government schemes, including obtaining an Ayushman card, opening a PM Jan Dhan account, and securing insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana.

Since joining the self-help group, Bhavna earns around ₹10,000 per month from the ration shop and ₹20,000 per month from the restaurant with her brother’s help. She now plans to start a goat-rearing business to strengthen her financial position further. Earning over ₹1 lakh annually, Bhavna is thrilled with her success. She extends her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for their support.
