Varanasi to receive another medical college by 2027

Chief Minister Yogi inspects road construction work under the CM Grid Scheme and the Police Museum

Chief Minister also reviews construction of medical college on 14.2 acres of mental hospital land in Pandeypur

CM directs special focus on timeliness and quality in development projects

Varanasi, March 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inspected the road construction project being carried out under the CM Grid Scheme. Reviewing the progress of the works, he directed officials of the executing agency to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe, maintaining prescribed quality standards.

Chief Minister also inspected the medical college being constructed on 14.2 acres of land belonging to the Mental Hospital in Pandeypur. Officials informed him that the construction of the medical college will be completed by 2027. Approximately ₹150 crore will be spent on the civil works. The college will have the capacity to educate around 150 MBBS students. Officials briefed him on the progress of the project.

Chief Minister Yogi emphasized expediting the work and ensuring its completion within the fixed deadline. He also directed that construction activities be monitored regularly.

Under the CM Grid Scheme, Chief Minister further inspected the road construction work from Tilak Ji’s statue to Bharat Seva Ashram. In the Varanasi urban area, six smart and high-tech roads are being developed at a cost of ₹47 crore under the scheme. These include roads from Tilak Ji’s statue to Bharat Seva Ashram, Golghar Chauraha to LT College, Ghanti Mill to Sigra Police Station, Sigra Chauraha to Aurangabad, from Sundarpur Main Road via Munshi Park to Cherian Hospital, and from Ravidas Gate to the Trauma Center. Nearly 90 percent of the work has already been completed.

Greenery is being given special importance along all these roads. Along with footpaths, proper landscaping arrangements are being developed. Facilities for pedestrians, including seating and resting spaces amid greenery, will also be available.

Chief Minister also inspected the Police Museum. During the inspection, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Stamp and Registration Ravindra Jaiswal, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, District Panchayat Chairperson Poonam Maurya, MLAs Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Dr. Avadhesh Singh and Dr. Sunil Patel, Legislative Council Members Hansraj Vishwakarma and Rai Dharmendra Singh, among others, were present.
