Peace, Security and Harmony are Paramount in State: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that festivals symbolise social harmony. To ensure that citizens across the state celebrate their festivals with mutual goodwill and affection, field-level police officers and personnel must discharge their duties with heightened vigilance, alertness and preparedness so that no disruption occurs anywhere. He directed that special monitoring and precautionary measures be undertaken during the festive period and that the police intelligence network be further strengthened. The police administration must perform its responsibilities with full readiness so that no citizen faces inconvenience.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, ahead of the upcoming festivals, conducted a detailed virtual review of the law and order situation in the state from the Police Commissioner’s Office, Bhopal, on Sunday. The high-level meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, ADG Intelligence Shri A. Sai Manohar and other senior police officials. All Range IGs, DIGs, Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police joined the video conference and apprised the Chief Minister of the arrangements in their respective jurisdictions.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed all police officers to maintain strict vigilance over law and order in their areas and to ensure that no laxity is shown in this regard. He emphasised that maintaining peace and
order in the state is the government’s highest priority and that citizens should be able to celebrate their festivals without any hindrance. The administration remains fully alert and committed to ensuring their safety. The Chief Minister directed officers to remain extremely cautious during the festive period and keep a close watch on every incident or untoward event. Public confidence in security must be strengthened. Influential and respected members of society should be included in peace committees. All Superintendents of Police were instructed to further improve their police control rooms and monitoring systems. Ensuring proper order in all circumstances is a collective responsibility, he said.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also announced that he will conduct surprise inspections of police stations and offices in the coming days. Police stations will be graded based on their functioning and public feedback. He instructed that all actions taken in relation to law and order must be fully transparent. He directed that, considering that examinations are currently underway, special monitoring be ensured at all examination centres and hostels.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated the police department for making the state Naxal-free and said that this achievement was possible due to the dedication and commitment of the police force. He instructed officers to ensure that Holika Dahan is conducted only at non-disputed locations.
He further noted complaints regarding bus operators allegedly charging excessive fares due to increased passenger movement during festivals and directed strict action to curb such practices.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasised that heightened sensitivity must be demonstrated during festivals. The police must ensure a quick response to any incident or accident, and even minor issues should be promptly addressed. Strict compliance with the provisions of “dry day” regulations must be ensured. All officers were directed to further tighten administrative arrangements in their respective areas.
During the video conference, field officers briefed the Chief Minister about the preparations undertaken for the festivals. They informed that peace committee meetings are being regularly conducted and continuous dialogue is being maintained with all stakeholders.
