UP floods under control, Yogi govt continues relief efforts in 10 affected districts
Lucknow : The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh is gradually coming under control, with only 10 districts currently affected, thanks to the Yogi government’s consistent efforts. The situation in these districts has stabilized, and relief efforts are ongoing to support those impacted.
In recent days, nearly two dozen cities across the state were severely affected by the floods. However, even as the floodwaters recede, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ensured that all departments involved in relief operations remain on high alert, continuing their efforts to assist the affected communities and mitigate any further impact.
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that floods is currently impacting 10 districts in Uttar Pradesh, though the situation remains under control. He stated that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, relief operations are being carried out continuously in these areas. The affected districts include Farrukhabad, Ballia, Barabanki, Gonda, Basti, Sitapur, Banda, Prayagraj, Deoria, and Lakhimpur Kheri.
In Farrukhabad, 35 villages across three tehsils are dealing with the effects of the rising Ganges river, affecting 30,552 residents. To manage the situation, 40 boats, one motorboat, and 15 prepositioned boats have been deployed, along with 24 flood shelters and a PAC team for rescue efforts.
Similarly, in Gonda, 21 villages across two tehsils are affected by the rising Ghaghra river, impacting 10,292 people. Relief efforts include 69 prepositioned boats, 31 flood shelters—two of which are operational—and teams from the SDRF and PAC.
In Ballia, two villages in two tehsils are facing flooding, affecting 550 residents. The relief operation includes 202 prepositioned boats and five rescue boats, with 71 flood shelters established, two of which are currently housing 50 people. Additionally, 100 lunch packets and 40 food items were distributed on Wednesday to those in need.
The Relief Commissioner further highlighted that five villages in one tehsil of Barabanki are currently affected by floods, with one village experiencing significant erosion. The flooding has impacted a population of 5,301 in this area.
In response, 15 flood shelters have been established, with three currently operational. To support relief efforts, three boats and one motorboat have been deployed, along with 259 prepositioned boats. Additionally, one PAC team is on-site to assist with the ongoing situation.
In Deoria, flooding has obstructed the route of one village in one tehsil. Two boats have been deployed to facilitate movement. In Basti, flood erosion is occurring in one village, causing an obstruction on a connecting road, though no population has been directly affected, with only agricultural land impacted. For relief work, 10 boats have been deployed, and 18 prepositioned boats are ready, alongside three flood shelters.
In Sitapur, flood erosion is also affecting one village in one tehsil, but currently, no population is impacted. The area has 17 established flood shelters and 18 prepositioned boats, with one PAC team deployed for safety and support. In Banda, the drainage of the Ken river has flooded the connecting road of two villages in one tehsil. Four boats and one additional boat have been deployed for transportation, with 218 prepositioned boats available.
In Prayagraj, the connecting road of one village in one tehsil is obstructed by flooding. One boat has been deployed for transportation, with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and two PAC teams actively working in the area. In Lakhimpur Kheri, five villages across two tehsils are experiencing erosion. Fourteen flood shelters have been established, with 11 prepositioned boats on hand. Additionally, one NDRF team and one PAC team are deployed to manage the situation and provide assistance to the affected areas.
