Stream of Spring Folk Songs Flows at Sangeet Bhavan

Lucknow, March 2026 : As part of the Phagotsav series organised by the Folk Culture Research Institute, a vibrant Holi music gathering was held on Friday at Sangeet Bhavan in Vivek Khand, Gomti Nagar, where melodious spring folk songs filled the air with festive colours.

The evening witnessed a delightful flow of traditional Phag (Holi folk) songs, with captivating performances of folk tunes that immersed the audience in the joyous spirit of the season. The entire atmosphere was infused with the festive charm of Holi through soulful music and lively presentations.
The programme began with a Ganesh Vandana, marking an auspicious start to the musical evening. Folk singer Deveshwari Panwar mesmerised the audience with beautiful renditions of mountain folk melodies, leaving listeners deeply moved.
Senior singer Soumya Goyal lifted the mood with the lively song “Hori Khelo Ri Radhe Sambhal Ke,” which brought a festive and celebratory energy to the gathering.
Following this, performers Adrila Mishra, Avika Ganguly, Atharva Srivastava, Bhumi Pandey, Aastha Pandey, Praveen Gaur, Soumya Goyal, Nupur Singh, Neelima Gaur, Suman Mishra, and Smita Pandey presented a group performance featuring popular Phag songs such as “Ude Braj Mein Gulal,” “Radha Rani Ki Rang Gayi Saari,” and “Hori Khele Banwari.” Their harmonious presentation added charm and vibrancy to the celebration.
Singer Saurabh Kamal performed the traditional Phag “Phagunwa Beeta Jaye Sonarwa Payal Hamari Na Laaye,” captivating the audience with its melodious appeal. Meanwhile, Jyoti Kiran Ratan received appreciation from the audience for her rendition of “Kori Gayi Yadi Hori Hamari.”
Several distinguished guests attended the programme, including Sangeetacharya Gayatri David, Tusharkanti Bhattacharya, Dr. Sudha Dwivedi (Secretary of the Folk Culture Research Institute), Nivedita Bhattacharya (Director of Sangeet Bhavan), Dr. S.K. Gopal, Neelima Gaur, Dashrath Prajapati, and Ramkumar, along with many other eminent personalities.
The event celebrated the richness of India’s folk traditions and brought together artists and music lovers in a colourful musical tribute to the spirit of Holi and the arrival of spring.
