Water for Irrigation will Reach Every Farmer’s Field: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is dedicated to the welfare of farmers. He said that the government is committed to ensuring that irrigation water reaches every field. With projects such as the Ken–Betwa River Linking Project and the Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal (PKC) Project, along with other modern irrigation initiatives, the irrigated area in the state is increasing rapidly. In the last two years alone, the irrigated area in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 10 lakh hectares, bringing the total irrigated land to 55 lakh hectares.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is the maternal home of rivers, and water from its rivers is also supplied to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, while Bihar and Gujarat also benefit. He said that while earlier governments did not pay adequate attention to the proper management of river waters, the present government’s efforts will ensure that Vidisha district receives the full benefits of the Ken–Betwa River Project.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is now a power-surplus state, and farmers will soon be provided with electricity for irrigation even during the daytime. He added that for the government, farmers in the fields and soldiers at the borders are equally important. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, both the country’s borders and internal areas have become more secure. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the state’s first district-level Fingerprint Laboratory in Vidisha.

Chief Minister Dr.  Yadav, addressing a Krishak Hitgrahi Sammelan and the Bhoomi Poojan and inauguration of development works in Shamshabad on Saturday,  said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, farmers are receiving ₹12,000 annually under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.  He said that Vidisha district is among the leading districts in agricultural production. Under the Bhavantar Payment Scheme, nearly ₹1,500 crore has been transferred to the accounts of soybean farmers. Mustard crops will now also be procured under the scheme.

The state government has decided to provide a bonus of ₹600 per quintal on urad (black gram). The registration date for wheat procurement has also been extended. The government will procure wheat from farmers at ₹2,625 per quintal, including a bonus of ₹40 per quintal. The government is committed to ensuring that farmers receive ₹2,700 per quintal for wheat by the year 2028.

Benefits Distributed to Beneficiaries

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was warmly welcomed with a traditional turban and garlands. On the occasion, he distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various schemes, including the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Narwai Prabandhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bima Yojana, Mudra Yojana and schemes related to agricultural equipment, livestock, and food processing.

Inauguration and Bhoomi Pooajan for Holistic Development

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced development works worth ₹163 crore for the comprehensive development of Vidisha district. He inaugurated 41 development projects worth nearly ₹60 crore, including the Sandipani School at Kurwai.

On March 7, the Bhoomi Poojan was performed for 56 new development projects worth ₹104.56 crore, including the upgradation of Vidisha College at a cost of ₹15 crore. The Chief Minister also informed that the state budget has provided ₹116 crore for new roads in Vidisha district. He said that in future process of the change name of Shamshbad to Suryanager after getting proposal.

Skill Training Program ‘Navya’ Launched

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the skill training programme ‘Navya’ has been launched from Vidisha as part of efforts to promote women’s empowerment. The scheme is being implemented in 27 districts across 9 states, and Vidisha is the only district from Madhya Pradesh included in the program. Through this initiative, women who have passed Class 10 will receive training for self-employment. He said that the state government is providing ₹1,500 per month to beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna Yojana, and the amount will gradually increase. Modern Sandipani Schools are being developed in the state to provide holistic education to students. Government school students are also being provided laptops, bicycles, books, and uniforms.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that large gaushalas are being established in the state to promote cow protection and animal husbandry. A model gaushala will also be built in Shamshabad. The state government has increased the per-cow assistance for government gaushalas from ₹20 to ₹40.

He said that the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana has been launched, under which a grant of ₹10 lakh will be provided for rearing 25 cows.

The Chief Minister said he was deeply touched by the warm welcome extended by the people of Shamshabad. He added that the Vidisha district is enriched by the legacy of Buddha and the Betwa River. The city is dedicated to Lord Surya and, like Ujjain, holds significant historical importance.

Key Announcements

  • ₹3 crore will be provided for development works in the Shamshabad Municipal Council.
  • A new electricity substation will be constructed in Shamshabad to provide power to several villages.
  • Development works will be undertaken after reviewing the Sanjay Sagar and Sagarh irrigation projects.

Member of Parliament Dr. Lata Wankhede said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, development in Madhya Pradesh is not just a list of schemes but a reflection of sensitive and responsive governance. She said the state is progressing steadily and touching new heights of cultural renaissance and development.

Animal Husbandry Minister and District In-Charge Shri Lakhan Patel said that the state aims to increase the irrigated area from 55 lakh hectares to 100 lakh hectares.

MLA Shri Suryaprakash Meena said that 2026 has been declared as Krishak Kalyan Year in Madhya Pradesh and irrigation coverage is continuously expanding. In the Shamshabad area, 12,000 hectares of land are being irrigated through the Sanjay Sagar Dam.

MLAs Shri Harisingh Raghuvanshi, Shri Harisingh Sapre, Shri Umakant Sharma, Shri Mukesh Tandon, Municipal Council President Smt. Geeta Kailash Raghuvanshi, District President Shri Maharaj Singh Dangi, Shri Jagdish Yadav, Dr. Mehtab Singh, Shri Kaptaan Singh Yadav, Shri Bhagwan Singh Dhakad, Shri Shailendra Singh Thakur and several other public representatives and a large number of farmers were present on the occasion.

Before the program, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was accorded a grand welcome by citizens along various routes in Shamshabad. People from all sections of society enthusiastically gathered during the road show to greet the Chief Minister, who warmly acknowledged the residents.
