Women’s Empowerment is the State Government’s Top Priority – Minister Lakshmi Rajwade
Women journalists honoured at Raipur Press Club on International Women’s Day; ‘Pink Room’ inaugurated
Raipur, March 2026 : Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Mrs. Lakshmi Rajwade attended a programme organized at the Raipur Press Club on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Extending her greetings to women journalists on the occasion, she said that women’s empowerment is the state government’s highest priority and that the Women and Child Development Department is continuously working to strengthen women socially, economically, and educationally.
Mrs. Rajwade said that today women are demonstrating remarkable talent and capability in various fields including education, administration, journalism, sports, and entrepreneurship. She noted that women journalists are playing a significant role in bringing important social issues to the forefront, increasing public awareness, and driving positive change through their work in the field of journalism.
The minister said that the Women and Child Development Department is implementing several schemes aimed at women’s empowerment, nutrition, health, and safety. The objective of these initiatives is to make women self-reliant, economically capable, and to further strengthen their participation in society. The state government’s priority is to connect women with the mainstream of development and provide them with greater opportunities to progress and succeed.
During the programme, Mrs. Rajwade also referred to the cricket tournament organized among women journalists as part of the “Khel Madai” event recently held by the Raipur Press Club. She said that such sporting activities play an important role in promoting women’s health, boosting confidence, and strengthening team spirit. On the occasion, she also presented the announced incentive prize of ₹21,000 each to the winning and runner-up teams of women journalists who participated in the tournament.
Minister Lakshmi Rajwade also inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Pink Room’ created for women journalists at the Raipur Press Club. She said that such facilities are an important step towards providing a better and more supportive working environment for women journalists.
The programme was attended by MLA Mr. Purandar Mishra, Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey, Press Club President Mr. Mohan Tiwari, General Secretary Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Vice President Mr. Dilip Sahu, Treasurer Mr. Dinesh Yadu, Joint Secretary Mrs. Nivedita Sahu, Mr. Bhupesh Jangde, along with a large number of senior and women journalists.
The programme organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day not only honoured the contribution of women journalists but also conveyed a positive message of women’s empowerment and respect in society.
