International Women’s Day 2026: “Maha Jan Sunwai” Free Legal Public Hearing for Women Facing Harassment

Kolasib, March 2026 : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, along with various State Commissions for Women, will organize a nationwide programme titled “Maha Jan Sunwai” (Public Hearing) across India.

In Kolasib district, the programme will be held on March 10, 2026 to mark International Women’s Day. The event will be organized jointly by the Mizoram State Commission for Women, the Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib, the Superintendent of Police, the District Legal Services Authority, and the Department of Women and Child Development.

The programme will be presided over by Prof. Rinpari Ralte, Member of the Mizoram State Commission for Women. Women who are facing various forms of injustice or violation of their rights will be able to submit their complaints during the programme.

Complaints may include issues such as domestic violence, harassment of any kind, marital disputes leading to suffering for women, harassment at the workplace by colleagues, sexual harassment, or any form of discrimination or oppression faced by women.

Since the event is a Free Legal Public Hearing, women can submit their complaints without any cost. Those wishing to file complaints may submit them in writing to the District Programme Officer (WCD), Child Development Project Officer (WCD), the Deputy Commissioner, or the Superintendent of Police.

Efforts will be made to resolve the submitted complaints as quickly as possible during the hearing.
