Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme: Assembly Speaker Flags Off Train to Tirupati
Jaipur, March 2026 : Under the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme–2025 of the state government, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani flagged off a special train for Tirupati from Madar Railway Station.
Speaker Devnani extended his best wishes to the pilgrims and said that a pilgrimage is not only a matter of religious faith but also a means of a person’s mental and spiritual development. Such schemes spread positive energy in society and help connect people with their culture and traditions. The Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme is an important and meaningful initiative in this direction, providing elderly citizens of the state an opportunity to visit major pilgrimage sites across the country.
He added that the state government is successfully implementing the scheme while keeping in mind the faith and convenience of senior citizens. Under the scheme, thousands of elderly people from different districts of the state are being taken on pilgrimages to various religious destinations, enabling them to gain spiritual and religious experiences.
Assistant Commissioner of the Devasthan Department, Girish Kumar Bachani, said that under the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme–2025, a special train to Tirupati via Bhilwara and Chittorgarh departed from Madar Railway Station in Ajmer at 11:15 AM on Saturday.
Under the scheme, 1,000 pilgrims were sent on the Tirupati pilgrimage by train. Among them, 600 passengers were from the Ajmer division and 400 from the Udaipur division. From the Ajmer division, 376 passengers boarded at Madar (Ajmer) Railway Station and 224 at Bhilwara Railway Station.
The pilgrimage is a six-day journey, and all arrangements are being made by the Devasthan Department through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Pilgrims are provided free food, accommodation, and other facilities, and the special train is fully air-conditioned.
During the programme, public representatives and officials were present and wished the pilgrims a safe and successful journey.
