‘Empowered Women – Strong Maharashtra’ Event to Honour Inspiring Women
Mumbai, March 2026 :Women who have overcome difficult circumstances and achieved success with the help of government welfare schemes will be honoured at a special event titled “Saksham Mahila – Sashakt Maharashtra” (Empowered Women – Strong Maharashtra), Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced.
The Women and Child Development Department of the Maharashtra government has been working to increase women’s participation in social, economic, and educational sectors while ensuring equal opportunities in different fields. Minister Tatkare said the department’s various schemes have helped many women overcome challenges and build successful lives, and the upcoming event aims to recognise and celebrate such achievements.
The special felicitation ceremony will be organised on March 9, 2026, at 1 pm at the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan in Nariman Point.
The programme will be held in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar will also attend the event. Minister of State Meghna Sakore-Bordikar will be present as a special guest.
Several prominent leaders and officials are expected to attend the programme, including Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, Member of Parliament Arvind Sawant, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, among other dignitaries.
During the ceremony, women from diverse backgrounds who have achieved notable success despite facing hardships will be honoured. These include women holding orphan certificates, those who have lived in children’s homes, and women associated with institutions such as Shakti Sadan, observation homes, women’s shelters, and hostels. Anganwadi workers who have made meaningful contributions to society will also be recognised.
Minister Tatkare said many of these women have emerged as role models in society by demonstrating resilience and determination. By honouring their achievements, the government aims to inspire other women to pursue their goals and take advantage of the opportunities available through government programmes.
She added that the event is designed not only to celebrate individual success stories but also to highlight the importance of empowering women in building a stronger and more inclusive society. Recognising such inspiring journeys will encourage more women to participate actively in social and economic development, she said.
