Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, extended his greetings and best wishes to women across the state and the country on the occasion of International Women’s Day. In his message issued from Patna on March 7, 2026, the Chief Minister praised the invaluable contributions of women in society and emphasized their crucial role in the development of the state and the nation.

The Chief Minister said that women are an integral part of society and their participation is essential for progress. According to him, the growth of any state or nation cannot be imagined without the active involvement and empowerment of women. Today, women are proving their abilities in various fields and building a distinct identity for themselves through their talent, determination, and hard work.

Highlighting the initiatives taken by the Bihar government for women’s empowerment, Nitish Kumar said that the state government has consistently been making efforts to strengthen the social and economic status of women. Several schemes have been launched to support girls and women at different stages of life.

Among the key initiatives are the Mukhyamantri Balika Poshak Yojana and Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana, which aim to encourage girls’ education and ensure that they have better access to schools. Other important programmes include the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, which focus on improving the welfare and future prospects of girls.

He also mentioned the Jeevika Programme, which has helped empower women through self-help groups and livelihood opportunities. In addition, the Bihar government has implemented 35 percent reservation for women in all government jobs and 50 percent reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local body elections, enabling greater participation of women in governance and decision-making.

Nitish Kumar said that these initiatives have helped women gain confidence and actively contribute to the progress and prosperity of Bihar.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister urged everyone to renew their commitment toward the advancement of women. He called upon society to work together to ensure that women receive equal opportunities, social respect, economic independence, and a safe environment where they can thrive and contribute fully to nation-building.
