CM Bhagwant Mann Inaugurates 80-Bed Hospital Complex in Dhuri, Boosting Healthcare in Sangrur
Dhuri, March 2026 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday inaugurated a modern healthcare facility comprising a 50-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital and a 30-bed Maternal and Child Health Block in Dhuri, significantly strengthening public healthcare infrastructure in Sangrur district.
Addressing the gathering, Mann said the project reflects the government’s strong commitment to building an accessible, patient-centric healthcare system. He emphasised that the focus remains on enhancing infrastructure, expanding medical services, and ensuring the availability of skilled healthcare professionals.

The Chief Minister noted that the newly inaugurated facilities will serve not only residents of Dhuri but also people from nearly 70 surrounding villages. Thousands of residents are expected to benefit as modern healthcare services are now available closer to their homes.
Constructed at a cost of ₹21.65 crore, the hospital complex features a state-of-the-art building spread across approximately 73,000 square feet. Mann described it as a major step toward strengthening secondary-level healthcare services in the region by providing both outpatient and inpatient care, along with emergency and diagnostic facilities.
Highlighting the dual structure of the project, Mann said the 50-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital has been designed to deliver comprehensive secondary healthcare, while the 30-bed Maternal and Child Health Block will significantly improve services for mothers, newborns, and children. The new block is expected to enhance maternal and neonatal care, ensuring better health outcomes for families in the region.
Tracing the evolution of the hospital, the Chief Minister said it was originally established in 1978 with just 30 beds and later upgraded to 50 beds. With the latest expansion, it has now transformed into a modern 80-bed facility, reflecting the government’s continued efforts to upgrade public healthcare systems.
The upgraded hospital includes 13 outpatient department (OPD) rooms, a well-equipped emergency block, two registration counters, and seven operation theatres catering to both major and minor surgeries. It is also equipped with advanced diagnostic facilities such as ECG, ultrasound, and X-ray units, along with three laboratories for accurate and timely testing.
Additional features include 12 private rooms, six general wards, a fully functional drug store, an SMO office, 11 nursing stations, and two lifts, all aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency.
Mann added that the enhanced infrastructure will enable doctors to respond more effectively to emergency cases, including accidents and critical illnesses, thereby significantly improving healthcare delivery in the region.
