Mayor presented the ‘Nagar Ki Chabhi’ to the First Citizen of the country
Artists gave a grand welcome to the President with cultural performances on the route from the airport to Ram Mandir
Ayodhya, March 2026 : On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Ram Nagari. She received a grand welcome here. Her arrival in Ayodhya was marked by historical and cultural dignity. At Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed her by presenting bouquets. During this, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also present.
Mayor Mahant Girish Pati Tripathi greeted the President and presented her with the ‘Nagar Ki Chabhi’. This honour is considered the highest symbolic recognition given by a city to a guest. It is noteworthy that this is the second visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Ayodhya.
As soon as the President’s convoy departed from Ayodhya Airport towards the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the entire route reflected a festive atmosphere. Around 20 cultural stages were set up along both sides of the road, where nearly 250 artists created a devotional environment through performances based on the Ramayana.
Dressed in traditional Indian attire, the artists captivated everyone with welcome songs, bhajans, Awadhi and Bhojpuri folk singing and folk dances, along with other performances reflecting Indian culture.
Residents of Ayodhya also stood along the roadsides and warmly welcomed the First Citizen of the country with flower showers and chants. The President also greeted the people of Ayodhya. To make the programme grand, traditional presentations such as excerpts from Ramlila, tableaux, drum performances, conch blowing, Vedic chanting and bhajan kirtan were also organized, showcasing the rich religious and cultural heritage of Ayodhya.
In view of the President’s arrival, the entire city of Ayodhya was filled with an atmosphere of devotion, enthusiasm and joy.
