Munger district receives development boost worth ₹119 crore during CM’s visit; 78 projects inaugurated and foundation stones laid

Patna, March 2026: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Munger district as part of his Samriddhi Yatra, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 78 development projects worth ₹119 crore.

During the visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed office building of the District Industries Centre in Munger. He inspected facilities such as the public grievance hall, visitor room, and project manager’s office, reviewing the services provided there. He also visited stalls set up by beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme and distributed cheques worth ₹60 lakh among beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister inspected the beautification work carried out at Kastaharni Ghat on the banks of the Ganga. Local artists welcomed him with traditional dance performances. He directed officials to further develop surrounding areas to ensure convenience for pilgrims visiting the ghat for rituals and bathing.

Kastaharni Ghat is considered an ancient and religiously significant site in Munger. According to beliefs, bathing here relieves physical and mental suffering. Mythological references associate the site with Lord Ram and Lakshman, who are believed to have bathed here. The ghat is also linked with King Karna and is known for its scenic sunrise and sunset views.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the District-level Resource and Training Centre at the Animal Husbandry campus near Bhagat Singh Chowk. He inspected facilities including training halls and enquiry counters. Under various schemes of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department, he distributed financial assistance and equipment, including keys of three-wheelers and ice boxes, along with subsidy cheques totaling over ₹8.83 lakh.

He reviewed the progress of several ongoing and proposed development projects, including irrigation works, road construction and strengthening, industrial park development, new college establishment, and infrastructure upgrades. Officials were instructed to complete all projects within the stipulated time frame.

The Chief Minister virtually inaugurated 52 projects worth ₹87 crore and laid foundation stones for 26 projects worth ₹32 crore. He emphasized that timely completion of these initiatives would significantly boost regional development and improve public facilities.

During the programme, he also distributed benefits under various welfare schemes. These included ₹101 crore in bank loans to 3,220 self-help groups, scholarships for 371 beneficiaries, financial aid for rescued child labourers, maternity benefits, and support under livelihood and social security schemes. Assistance was also provided to thousands of women’s self-help groups under the Jeevika programme.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister appreciated the work of women’s self-help groups and encouraged them to continue contributing to economic empowerment. He assured continued support from the state government.

Several ministers, legislators, and senior officials were present at the event.
