Extensive Guidance on Sericulture and Success Stories Shared During Technical Sessions
Parli Vaidyanath, 23rd: On the third day of the ongoing agriculture festival at Parli Vaidyanath, farmers from across the state have shown overwhelming enthusiasm. Thousands of farmers from various districts, including Gadchiroli, Amravati, Nagpur, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Kolhapur, have attended the event and benefited from the agricultural exhibition.

A large number of women, alongside men, were seen purchasing various agricultural products displayed at the exhibition, including stalls set up by women’s self-help groups as part of the Umed Abhiyan.
Guidance on Sericulture During Technical Sessions
Sericulture presents a valuable option for sustainable income in a changing and unstable climate. With scientific management of mulberry cultivation, silkworm life cycles, feeding, pest management, and disinfection, sericulture can provide consistent cash income. Similar to salaried employees receiving monthly payments, farmers can also generate regular financial income from sericulture, according to Mahendra Dhavale, Deputy Director of Nagpur Silk, who guided farmers during the technical session at the Agricultural Festival today.
Farmers were also shown a video illustrating the advanced stages of sericulture, from mulberry cultivation to silk production. Beed district leads Maharashtra in sericulture, contributing 40% of the state’s total silk production. Success stories of progressive farmers, such as Arvind Aghav from Daunapur village in Parli taluka and Baba Salgar from Malnathpur, were shared with the attending farmers. Additionally, Krishi Bhushan awardees Shivram Ghodke and Ramprasad Doifode from Loldagaon, Beed, provided insights on the methods and benefits of organic farming.

The seminar was chaired by Dr. Anand Gore, a researcher from the Organic Agriculture Research Department of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University. Also present were Dr. Chandrakant Latpte from the Sericulture Research Center, Dr. Deepti Patgaonkar from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Khamgaon, agricultural scholar Dr. Vasant Suryavanshi, District Superintendent of Agriculture Dr. Raman Deshpande, Officer Subhash Salve, and others.
