DD Indigenous Games & Cultural Festival 2026

Aizawl, March 2026: The DD Indigenous Games & Cultural Festival 2026 commenced today. The festival has been jointly organized by Doordarshan Aizawl and the Mizoram Indigenous Association General Headquarters, Aizawl. The event features competitions based on various traditional Mizo games. A total of nine indigenous games are being played, including Insuknawr, Inbuan, Insuknawr Tangho, Invawr, Kawikah, Inarpasual, Kalchhet Kal Tangho, Insaihruipawh, and Kalchhet Kal Mimal. Such events have been organized from time to time to promote and preserve traditional Mizo games and culture.

In the DD Indigenous Games & Cultural Festival 2026, a total of 352 participants are taking part in these nine games. Among them, 126 are women and 226 are men. Participants have come from 13 localities within Aizawl, 12 places outside Aizawl, and one participant has even joined from Poland.
