Uttarakhand CM Dhami Announces 10% Reservation for State Agitators

In a significant development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs for state agitators. This announcement came during a meeting with representatives of the Uttarakhand Rajya Andolankari Manch on Saturday. CM Dhami expressed his deep gratitude towards the agitators, acknowledging their crucial role in the formation of Uttarakhand and emphasizing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

Dhami, who personally witnessed the state formation movement, assured that the government is committed to fulfilling the dreams of the agitators and providing them with adequate facilities. He highlighted the implementation of the 10% job reservation as a key step towards this goal and announced an increase in pensions for the agitators and their dependents.

The Chief Minister also lauded the continuous development in Uttarakhand, noting that the state had topped NITI Aayog’s development index. He attributed this success to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership substantial central schemes worth Rs 2 lakh crores are being implemented in the state. Dhami also spoke about efforts to make Uttarakhand a drug-free state, attract industrial investments, and address illegal encroachments, with about 5,000 acres of land already reclaimed.

Additionally, Dhami emphasized the importance of environmental protection and highlighted the success of a recent investor summit, which attracted many industrialists, thereby creating job opportunities and reducing migration.

The meeting was attended by Uttarakhand State Movement Forum President Jagmohan Singh Negi, former Vice President of Uttarakhand State Movement Welfare Council Ravindra Jugran, Uttarakhand State Movement Forum State Spokesperson Pradeep Kukreti, and other Forum officials.
