Vijay Unveils TVK’s Full Candidate List for Tamil Nadu Polls, Signals Strong Electoral Debut
Chennai, March 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday officially announced all 234 candidates of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, marking a significant step in the party’s first-ever electoral foray.
The announcement was made at a grand event held in Nungambakkam, Chennai, attended by party leaders, cadres, and supporters in large numbers. The high-profile launch highlighted TVK’s ambition to position itself as a strong alternative in the state’s political arena, traditionally dominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
In a notable move, Vijay also introduced candidates for the neighbouring Union Territory of Puducherry, signalling the party’s broader regional ambitions beyond Tamil Nadu. This expansion reflects TVK’s intent to establish a presence across key southern political landscapes.
A key highlight of the announcement was Vijay’s own electoral strategy. The TVK president will contest from two constituencies — Perambur in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli (East). His decision to enter the fray from both an urban constituency and a central Tamil Nadu seat is being seen as a calculated attempt to widen his appeal across diverse voter groups.
Among other prominent candidates, party General Secretary N. Anand will contest from the high-profile T. Nagar constituency in Chennai. Aadav Arjun has been fielded from Villivakkam, while Sengottaiyan will contest from Gopichettipalayam. C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar will represent the party from Tirupparankundram, and Sathyakumar has been nominated from Tiruttani.
Party sources indicated that the selection process focused on a balanced mix of youth, professionals, and grassroots workers. This approach aligns with Vijay’s stated vision of promoting clean, transparent, and people-centric governance. The leadership also stressed the importance of introducing new faces in politics while ensuring adequate regional representation across constituencies.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers, with Vijay calling on cadres to actively engage with voters and take the party’s message of change to every household. He reiterated his commitment to development, inclusivity, and accountable governance.
With the release of its full candidate list, TVK has formally entered the electoral contest, setting the stage for a multi-cornered battle in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Political observers believe Vijay’s entry could significantly impact voter dynamics, particularly among youth and first-time voters.
As campaigning gathers momentum, TVK’s debut is expected to add a new dimension to the state’s political landscape, potentially reshaping traditional electoral equations in the months ahead.
