Chief Secretary Inspects CETP, Orders Swift Industrial Linkage

Jaipur, March 2026 : Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Sunday inspected the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Sanganer and the surrounding areas of the Dravyavati River, directing authorities to ensure that all industrial units are connected to the CETP at the earliest.

During the visit, he instructed Sanganer Enviro Project Development to expedite the construction of the proposed pumping station at Brahmanon Ki Gwar, which is essential to connect the remaining 134 industrial units to the CETP system.

The Chief Secretary also emphasized the need to address technical shortcomings affecting the plant’s operations. He directed the project developers to consult stakeholders and prepare a time-bound action plan to resolve these issues, which must be submitted to the state government promptly.

He reiterated that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has issued clear directives to ensure that all industrial units are mandatorily linked to the CETP and that its optimal usage is enforced.

Strict action against violators

Srinivas warned that stringent action will be taken against industries failing to comply with environmental norms. He directed the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board to take effective action against defaulting units to permanently address the issue of untreated industrial discharge entering the Dravyavati River.

He further instructed that all textile processing units connected to the CETP must obtain proper consent from the Pollution Control Board before commencing or continuing operations.

CETP capacity and current status

According to Praveen Shah, Director of Sanganer Enviro Project Development, the CETP at Sanganer has a capacity of 12.3 million litres per day (MLD) and is designed to cater to 892 textile processing units. Currently, 758 units have been connected to the system, while the remaining 134 units will be linked once the pumping station construction is completed.

He also noted that certain technical issues are limiting the plant’s full-capacity operations, which will be addressed in due course.

The inspection was conducted in compliance with directions issued during the third “Raj Unnati” review meeting held on March 28 under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.

Senior officials, including representatives from the Jaipur Development Authority, Jaipur Municipal Corporation, and the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, were present during the inspection.
