Kuwait Intercepts Missiles and Drones; Military Camp Hit, 10 Soldiers Injured
Kuwait City, March 29 — Kuwait’s air defence systems intercepted multiple aerial threats over the past 24 hours, but a military camp was struck by projectiles, leaving 10 armed forces personnel injured, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
The Kuwaiti Defence Ministry said its units detected and shot down 14 ballistic missiles and 12 hostile drones in the country’s airspace. Despite the successful interceptions, several projectiles managed to hit a military installation, causing injuries and material damage.
Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Saud Abdulaziz al-Atwan confirmed that 10 service members were wounded in the attack. “Over the past 24 hours, the armed forces detected 14 ballistic missiles and 12 hostile drones in Kuwaiti airspace,” he said. “This resulted in an attack on one of the armed forces’ camps, injuring 10 members of the armed forces, who are receiving the necessary medical treatment, in addition to material damage to the site.”
The injured personnel were promptly transferred to medical facilities, where they are undergoing treatment. Officials did not disclose the exact location of the targeted military camp.
In addition to the military site, warehouses belonging to a private logistics company were also hit during the attacks. While the strikes caused property damage, no civilian casualties were reported in those incidents.
Authorities emphasized that Kuwait’s air defence systems remain on high alert and are fully prepared to respond to any further threats. Citizens were urged to rely on official sources for updates and to follow safety guidelines issued by authorities.
No immediate details were provided regarding the origin of the missiles and drones. However, the incident comes amid heightened regional tensions following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran that began last month.
Since then, Iran has reportedly launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting US and Israeli positions across the Middle East. Kuwait, located in a strategically sensitive region, appears to have been affected by the spillover of this broader conflict.
The latest attack highlights the growing security challenges in the Gulf region, as countries remain on alert against escalating hostilities. Kuwaiti officials reiterated their commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining readiness to counter any further escalation.
