Swift action by the Yogi govt ensures safe return of Akhilesh

A youth from Ambedkar Nagar was safely brought back home from conflict-affected Israel via Jordan

The Chief Minister had issued directions for Akhilesh’s safe return following the prompt initiative of DM Anupam Shukla

Ambedkar Nagar, April 2026 : Akhilesh Kumar, a resident of Akbarpur who was stranded in the conflict-affected city of Netanya in Israel, has been safely brought back via Jordan following the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the initiative of District Magistrate Anupam Shukla.

This development stands as an excellent example of the Chief Minister’s humanitarian approach towards citizens, the sensitivity and prompt decision-making of the Ambedkar Nagar district administration, and effective international coordination.

Akhilesh Kumar had gone to Israel for employment, but due to non-cooperation from his employer and war-like conditions, he fell into severe mental distress.

His condition deteriorated to the point where he was unable to return on his own. During this time, his wife Kiran Devi, a resident of village Hajpura (Police Station Sammanpur, Tehsil Jalalpur), attended the Janata Darshan on March 25, 2026, and made an emotional appeal to the District Magistrate for her husband’s safe return.

Considering the seriousness of the case, the District Magistrate immediately informed the state government.

The Chief Minister instructed senior officials to ensure Akhilesh’s safe return. Accordingly, on March 28, 2026, a formal communication was sent to the Indian Embassy in Israel. Simultaneously, the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India established continuous high-level coordination with the Indian Ambassador in Tel Aviv, consular officials, the Indian Ambassador in Jordan, and the Jordanian administration, which accelerated the entire process.

Due to the closure of airports in Israel, an alternative strategy was adopted. On April 1, 2026, arrangements for a Jordan visa and international air ticket were made. On April 2, 2026, Akhilesh Kumar was safely transported by a special vehicle to the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv, from where he was taken by land to the Jordan border.

With the assistance of the Indian Embassy in Jordan and local authorities, he was taken to Amman (the capital of Jordan). From there, he boarded a Royal Jordanian flight at 20:40 on April 2 and safely reached Mumbai at 04:55 on April 3, 2026.

At Mumbai airport, Royal Jordanian representative Rishabh Singh provided full assistance and handed him over to Air India staff. Thereafter, Akhilesh Kumar traveled from Mumbai to Lucknow on Air India flight AI-2491. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) also extended full support during this process.

Upon reaching Lucknow, Akhilesh met his family members and was then escorted to his home in Tehsil Jalalpur, district Ambedkar Nagar.

This entire operation stands as a strong example of the prompt and humane intervention of District Magistrate Anupam Shukla, the proactive functioning of the district administration, effective coordination by the central government and international missions, and the active support of Indian diplomats in Israel and Jordan.

The District Magistrate expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government, the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies in Israel and Jordan, diplomatic officials, the Jordanian administration, airlines (Royal Jordanian and Air India), the Airports Authority of India, and all concerned officials for their cooperation in the successful operation.

On Saturday, Akhilesh Kumar, along with his wife Kiran Devi, visited the Collectorate and met District Magistrate Anupam Shukla, expressing deep gratitude to the administration and the government.

Akhilesh Kumar said that, “I was going through one of the most difficult and helpless phases of my life, where all hope seemed to be fading.”

He credited the continuous efforts of the state government and the District Magistrate for his safe return to his family.

Kiran Devi also shared her emotions, stating that the seriousness and priority given to her appeal during Janata Darshan became a ray of hope for her.

She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government, District Magistrate Anupam Shukla, Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Jyotsna Bandhu, Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Officer Akbarpur Vishal Saraswat, and all officials and staff whose collective efforts made her husband’s safe return possible.

Akhilesh Kumar has now safely returned to his home in village Hajpura, Tehsil Jalalpur, district Ambedkar Nagar, where an atmosphere of joy prevails. This successful operation exemplifies the Yogi government’s commitment to addressing public concerns on priority, the swift and humane initiative of the District Magistrate, the efficiency of the district administration, and the effective coordination between the central government and international diplomatic channels.
