‘Chitrapataka’ Film Festival to Be Held in Mumbai in November: Minister Ashish Shelar
Mumbai, April 2026 : Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar has announced that the state government’s official ‘Chitrapataka’ Film Festival will be organised from November 12 to 15, 2026, at the Pu La Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
The announcement was made during a review meeting of the Cultural Affairs Department held at the same venue in the presence of Minister Shelar. Senior officials, including Secretary Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Managing Director Swati Mhase-Patil, Joint Managing Director Prashant Sajanikar, and Deputy Secretaries Nanda Raut and Mahesh Vavhal, were also present.
The ‘Chitrapataka’ Marathi Film Festival, launched last year under the Cultural Affairs Department through the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation, aims to provide an international platform for Marathi cinema. The inaugural edition received an enthusiastic response from audiences and filmmakers alike.
Building on the success of its first edition, Minister Shelar has directed that this year’s festival be expanded and organised on a larger scale over four days, with a broader range of participation and activities.
