Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Aims to Make Mumbai-Goa Highway Pothole-Free Before Ganeshotsav
Highway Inspection Conducted by Chief Minister
Raigad : The government is taking all necessary measures to ensure that travelers heading to Konkan for Ganeshotsav do not face difficulties due to potholes on the roads. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has stated that the goal is to make the Mumbai-Goa highway pothole-free before the festival.
Chief Minister Shinde inspected the ongoing road works on the Mumbai-Goa highway and reiterated this commitment during his visit.
On this occasion, MP Srirang Barane, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, MLAs Prashant Thakur, Bharat Gogawle, Mahendra Thorve, Mahendra Dalvi, and Ravindra Patil, along with Divisional Commissioner P. Velrasu, Collector Kishan Javale, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Bharat Bastewad, District Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge, Project Director of the National Highway Authority Mr. Ghotkar, Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department Sushma Gaikwad, Executive Engineer Jagdish Sukhadeve, and other relevant officials were present.
Chief Minister Shinde concluded his inspection tour at the tunnel site at Bhogao in Kashedi Ghat.
He mentioned that modern technology is being effectively utilized to expedite the road work and implement permanent solutions for potholes. Three advanced methods are currently being used for pothole repair: the M60 RFC and Leo Polymer method, the Rapidex Hardener M60 method, and the DLC method. Additionally, the Brix Cast M60 method is also being employed, where ready-made cement plates are being installed to prepare the road. These efforts aim to make the Mumbai-Goa highway pothole-free and complete the remaining work as quickly as possible. The entire team is working diligently towards this goal.
Chief Minister Shinde further emphasized that coordination between the National Highways Authority and the Public Works Department is ongoing, with effective planning in place.
He also directed Raigad Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge to file charges of culpable homicide against the former contractors who abandoned the project.
During his inspection of the approximately 155 km stretch, Chief Minister Shinde reviewed the road work at Palaspe, Gadb, Kolad, Mangaon, Lonere Phata, and Kashedi Bogda, even amidst the rain.
Finally, he instructed all relevant officials to expedite the completion of the remaining roadwork on this highway.
During the inspection, officials from the Raigad Press Club submitted a request urging the Chief Minister to expedite the completion of the Mumbai-Goa highway.
