Mumbai, April 2026 : The Shrivardhan Beach in Raigad district will be developed as a ‘Blue Flag Beach’ with a focus on sustainable development, announced Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare. She said the initiative will boost tourism and create new employment opportunities for local residents.

An initial fund of ₹1.40 crore has been received out of the total ₹4 crore allocated for the first phase of the project. A review meeting was held at the Mantralaya to assess progress, where the minister directed officials to expedite the implementation. Officials from the Tourism Department and other concerned authorities were present at the meeting.

Minister Tatkare emphasized that comprehensive measures are essential to maintain the beach as clean, attractive, and safe. To achieve ‘Blue Flag’ certification, strict adherence to standards such as clean water, effective waste management, robust safety measures, and high-quality tourist facilities is necessary. She instructed officials to ensure proper implementation of all these criteria.

The project will focus on meeting environmental standards while developing the beach into a world-class destination. It is expected to strengthen the tourism sector, boost the local economy, and contribute to environmental conservation.
