Online System to Fast-Track ‘Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance’ Approvals Within 8 Hours
Nagpur, April 2026 : In a major step aimed at ensuring timely medical aid for patients, a new online system has been introduced under the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund, enabling approvals within just eight hours. The initiative is designed to eliminate delays and reduce the burden on patients and their families in accessing urgent financial support for treatment.
The system was inaugurated on April 20 by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A key feature of the new mechanism is that hospitals, rather than patients or their relatives, will now be able to directly submit applications for financial assistance. This is expected to significantly streamline the process and ensure faster access to treatment.
The Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund cell in Nagpur was established to provide financial support to economically weaker patients across the state. Until now, patients’ relatives were required to collect and submit all necessary documents themselves, often leading to delays in approval and treatment. With the introduction of the online system, this responsibility will shift to hospitals affiliated with the assistance cell.
Under the new process, once a patient submits all required documents to the hospital, the hospital administration will forward the application to the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund office for approval. If all documents are in order, the application will be processed and approved within eight working hours. This is expected to provide significant relief to patients and their families, particularly in emergency situations.
Officials said that several improvements have been introduced in recent years to make the assistance fund more accessible and efficient. The new online system is a continuation of these efforts to enhance patient convenience and speed up service delivery.
Data from the financial year April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, highlights the scale of support provided under the scheme. During this period, as many as 40,776 patients across the state received medical assistance amounting to ₹333.06 crore.
In addition, a tripartite agreement has been signed between the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund cell, BPCL Foundation, and Tata Memorial Centre to support the treatment of children suffering from cancer. This partnership, under corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, will provide additional funds to ensure quality treatment for needy patients.
Healthcare outreach efforts have also been expanded at the district level. In Nagpur alone, a total of 747 health camps, including initiatives like Namo Netra Sanjeevani Shibir and Aarogyacha Shri Ganesha, were organised last year, benefiting over 53,000 patients.
Officials emphasised that the new online system has been developed to ensure that patients receive timely treatment without procedural hurdles. However, for those who may not have complete documentation readily available, an offline application facility will continue to operate at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat (Hyderabad House, Civil Lines, Nagpur).
The new system is expected to be implemented across the state, making the process faster, more efficient, and patient-friendly, ultimately improving access to critical healthcare services for those in need.
