Raipur, April 2026: As part of the selection process for admission into the Residential Sports Academy run by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, a total of 204 athletes were evaluated for their sporting abilities at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Kota, Raipur.
The trials focused on candidates from archery, football, and weightlifting disciplines. Players seeking admission into the academy are selected based on their motor abilities as well as their overall sporting skills, ensuring that only the most promising talents are chosen for advanced training.
According to officials, the selection process is being conducted in multiple phases. On the third day of trials, scheduled for April 30, registration, document verification, medical examinations, and preliminary efficiency tests will be conducted for athletes aspiring to join the hockey and athletics academies.
On May 1, candidates who meet the required standards during the initial screening will undergo detailed skill assessments specific to their respective sports. These evaluations aim to identify athletes with the potential to excel at higher levels with structured training and support.
